I've recently brought a horse from Meadow Stables, he is everything and more than he was decribed, Jenny and Sam were very helpful and honest and a pleasure to deal with. My new lad has proved to be an absolute gentleman and a pleasure to own. The after sale has been great from both Jenny and Sam and I wouldn't hesitate in buying a horse from them again in the future. Thankyou to all at meadow stables.
She's amazing, I'm so happy, We take her out every day and she's been so good, Thankyou for all your help!
He is all I could ever have wanted and more. We did a lot of schooling when he first came to me and have taken it all very slowly. But I honestly couldn't ask for more. Theres nothing he won't try for me, and everyone that meets him falls in love with him
When I visited (3 times in total) all the horses on the yard where healthy, well fed and showed no signs of distress/illness. If anything, a little porky in 'show condition'. Sammarie was nothing but very honest and to the point, like most dealers, some get offended/upset by this, but its what I expect.
I wanted to share this as there are good horses to be had. And also share a few things I've learnt along the way (I was a competition groom for 10yrs, worked round the world and have a fair bit of dealing with dealers).
I recently visited Sammarie Phebs yard in Essex to view a horse I’d seen advertised. Due to a mix up she wasn’t expecting me but let me view as I’d driven from Surrey. She had some lovely cobs on the yard, all with heads out over doors, pleased to see us and in lovely clean straw bedded stables with hay and water. I was very taken with her gorgeous palamino show cob stallion who was also on the same yard with mixed mares and geldings and who was really friendly and nice.
The horse I wanted to view was brought out, tacked up while I stood watching and I got to look all over him. He was friendly and chilled out but was too young and needed more confidence than I have. I explained this and there was no pressure, they agreed with me and said I’d just missed another lovely horse who would have suited me but he was sold and was undergoing a 5 stage vetting which was being done as I left.
In the car on the way home Sammarie messaged me to say he’d failed the vetting, gave me the reason snd asked if I wanted to see him. I said I was very interested but couldn’t go back that day and could she send me videos of him. She then proceeded to send me about 10-15 videos of Jet being ridden, hacking, in the stable, being bathed, dried and every aspect of him I could want to see and he seemed perfect. Sammarie spent time answering my questions and was very patient. We agreed a 30 day trial and she also took my cob to sell on as he was not right for me.
Since I’ve had Jet he’s seen the vet and been passed as fit for purpose. He is everything that Sammarie described him as and I am so pleased that I bought him. I have been looking for a year!
Sammarie also sold my little cob and I was contacted by his new owner who found me through his passport and she is also thrilled with him and bought him unseen as she is in Wales.
My reason for writing this review is that I’d seen some unpleasant reviews of Sammarie but my experience of buying from her was such a nice experience. She was knowledgable, patient, polite, helpful and the horses on her yard were well looked after and friendly. She listened to what I needed and matched me perfectly, she delivered my horse to suit my timeframe and worked really hard to make everything work for a smooth transaction. I paid a fair price for the horse I bought and she paid me a fair price for the horse I sold. I would absolutely deal with her again.
Absolute darling, we've got a long way to go but we've booked lessons and he's done brilliantly.
She is doing great and I am riding she is being a little super star!
She's so funny, she's growing my confidence every day the good thing is that she needs a push to go so that's good for me. she has helped me loads I can't thankyou enough, you have really restored my faith in people.
Marty is everything you said he would be thankyou so much for being so honest as i've never brought a horse without seeing it before, I wish you well in all you do and if I ever need him replacing you will be my first port of call.
Wanted to say a big thankyou, we brought Percy pig and he is an absolute delight, such a gentle kind boy, with great manners 5* thankyou.
He's gorgeous, we love him so much. thanks again.
Absolutely in love with my pony, exactly what it says n the tin, over the moon and still smiling from ear to ear, safe, friendly, beautiful. Brilliant service from you Sam you were on time with your delivery and it was contact free covid safe easy exchange. The perfect experience and I would 100% recommend you to anyone wanting a newbie. Thankyou so much!
We saw Carlton advertised online and made contact with Sam to enquire about him. Sam sent us some videos of Carlton in different situations ( cantering in open field, going through mud, going down the road with a HGV passing him) which gave us confidence he might be right for us. We visited Sams yard at short notice and Carlton was extremely well presented for us to view. We spent some time in the stable with him before he was tacked up and ridden infront of us by a member of the team. Both myself and my daughter rode him in the school then on a short hack. The team were very friendly, happy and helpful to answer any questions we had. We felt under no pressure to make any rushed decisions and spent as much time with Carlton as needed. Carlton was offered with a 30 day warranty and open to any vetting. When we arrived to collect Carlton the following day ( a Sunday lunchtime), the team had cleaned him and ready to go, and even loaded him for us, completely hassle free. Since having Carlton home with us, he has settled in well and is growing in character. We have found what Sam had told us to be a true reflection of his character and ability. Sam has kept in contact to see how we have been getting on. I would recommend that if you are seriously looking for a horse to buy then contact Sam to see what she has available.
We brought Oreo (now named Otis) for a novice rider. As we are an RDA type home we were very wary about purchasing the wrong horse, however liaising with the sales team couldn't of been easier and Otis was delivered quickly, safely and calmly. After a minor glitch ( which was exceedingly well handled and managed by team Meadow and no fault of theirs) Otis settled in wonderfully with us within a week and has been taking a disabled rider out across the new forest, has seen tons of scary new stuff and is exactly as bombproof and affectionate as described. He suits our needs perfectly and is a very popular boy at the yard! Very pleased with the service and would buy from team Meadow again. Thankyou!
